Hannah Reed

Toddler Mom and Proud Aunt, Karaoke Fan, Detroit Explorer.

Hannah's love for college admissions started when she attended Earlham College, a College That Changes Lives, and discovered firsthand the impact of a "perfect fit" college. She is passionate about helping students align their personal mission with the values of the institutions and communities they seek to join.

Hannah has worked in three independent schools. After several years teaching and working as a Dean of Students, Hannah sought to get to know students on a more individual basis in an advocacy role, helping them find their best next steps and asking themselves who they want to grow into. Today, she relishes the opportunity to build trust with her students, empowering them to author unique paths and tell their stories in authentic ways on their college applications.

As a member of the Michigan Association of College Admission Counseling, Hannah has served on the Professional Development Committee and on the Executive Board as Secretary. She also handles all social media for the MACAC Communications Committee. Hannah received both the MACAC Rising Star and ACE (Advocate, Collaborate, and Educate) awards. Her work with the National Association for College Admission Counseling includes college fair support of college admissions representatives and high school attendees.

Hannah is deeply passionate about issues of equity and inclusion and meets each student exactly where they are. She has completed extensive professional development in this area including training as a SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) facilitator. She is mindful of the ways our identities can intersect with each other in the college admissions process. She has robust experience with LGBTQ+ and international students and feels equipped to work with students from all backgrounds.

Hannah lives with her husband, daughter, and two cats in Detroit. Hannah established Ginkgo Consulting in 2024 and is excited to have joined ROOT.
